Subtle Pattern - Photoshop

Choose a base, copy it and paste it into Photoshop.
Here, I used one from DHF.
(You will use the Screen/Multiply shading technique.)
Draw and shade the dress, using the Screen/Multiply shading technique.
Create a new layer and fill it with the pattern.
With the pattern layer active, select all and then pick the move tool and move the selection.
If you do not actually want to move it, press right and then left arrows.
Now fill the selection with the same color of the dress.
Pick the magic wand tool and select the dress.
Inverse the selection and delete.
Duplicate the pattern layer several times, to have one copy for each shadow/highlight layer.
Make one of the shadow/highlight layers active, select all and press right and then left arrows.
Inverse the selection.
Go to a pattern layer and delete everything outside the shadow (highlight).
Change the blending mode, to be the same of the layer you´re working with.
Repeat it for all the shadow/highlight layers.
You may change the brightness of some pattern layers to obtain a better result.
Add details, and your doll is ready!
